Posted - 29 January 2009 : 21:06:33 HI, i have just completed the household expenses and the total is £1329. My benefit is £268. My partners household contribution each month to the household expenses is £1100. Question 6.8 Total household income £1368. leaving a difference over of £38. is this right ?
Could someone please have a look for me, should it balance exactly ?
Thanks in advance. |

Posted - 29 January 2009 : 23:08:51 Hi
no don't worry they can't make your partner pay for your debts, if you're not working and get zero benefits then you can't get an IPA.

Posted - 29 January 2009 : 21:41:51 I'm having the same problem. my partner works full time and ALL his wage pays ALL the bills apart from general housekeeping : which my 60.50 per week JSA is used for (food, cleaning etc). he is my new partner and it was supposed to be that we contributed equally (paid half each). that went out the window the moment i lost my job and the poor bugger has to foot nearly all the bill! these debts were run up a few years ago between my x husband and i but when we split, the debts were in my name and i was responsible for the debt even though it was used to renovate a house which he now lives in with his new girlfriend and baby!! all the paperwork is getting me down, ive been worrying that my new partner will have to contribute towards an ipa or something - which i dont see as being fair as he had nothing to do with the debt! its all stress at the moment as he had pay day today - only £810 for 4 weeks work and my JSA is stopping 7th feb and i cant claim anymore as my partner works full time. without my jsa i dont know how we'll cope. no kids and he's under 25 so no tax credits either! so by the time the OR see's me i'd be contributing nothing. hopefully family can help or council tax relief or something or we'll have to give up or home! stress! will they make him pay? do i have to put him on the list? im confused!
GOOD LUCK FOR TUESDAY!! |

Posted - 29 January 2009 : 21:16:10 Hi
I'm assuming you have no income from the details of your post.
If so the figures are fine. You have declared a disposable income of £39 per month. The fact is that with no income, and if your partner is not declaring bankruptcy, then you cannot have an IPA imposed anyway even if your partner's income was much higher as the debts are yours not his.
Try and relax, all will be well.
