I notified my creditors in December that was no longer able to maintain the payments on the informal payment plans that I have set up due to a relationship breakdown. I am now getting telephone messages to contact them. Should I tell them that I am in the process of filing for bankruptcy or should I wait and let the OR do it.

Personally, I would just tell them you are taking steps to sort your debts out, I would not tell them you are going bankrupt, I told some of my creditors and it made them chase even harder and they did not believe me

Hi Shirley

If bankruptcy is your intention and you are starting the process, yes tell your creditors if they contact you what your intentions are - in that you are inthe process of filing your petition in bankruptcy - this will get them to back off, usually there is a complete change in attitude from creditors (the ones demanding payment)
Hope this helps
