Before I petitioned for BK I opened a cashminder account with the co-op. A week before I went to court I informed the bank manager of my intention to petition for BK and would it be possible to keep my account open and not freeze it. He said there would be no problem and sure enough, since my bankruptcy date last week I have been able to access funds from this account. I also spoke to my OR yesterday and asked her about additional funds which go into my account. Basically my flatmate doesn't have a bank account and his wages go directly into my account as this makes it easier when it comes to paying bills, rent, etc than having money going backwards and forwards. I wasn't sure whether this would still be acceptable to the OR once I became bankrupt, but surprisingly, she said there wouldn't be a problem with that and understood the reasoning behind it. All she needed to know was how much was going into the account on which dates so that she could write to the bank and inform them. I was under the impression that once I became bankrupt my flatmate would no longer be able to put his wages into my account as this might confuse things, but it seems to be okay with the OR, so I pleased about that. One less thing to worry about now.
