No offence taken i can assure you, i just have to be careful as to what i actually write as i would not want people to think i was giveing avoidance advice as that would be wrong of me, professionally speaking. But no offence taken

I am sorry but you have come to the wrong person to ask something like that - I am not going to give you approval for avoidance of an IPO it would be wrong of me professionally to do so

Sorry, Melanie

Usually when someone is living at home there is a basic allowance for board and lodge (not usually to exceeed £200) bills such as gas electricity and council tax are not in your name (your parents responsibility) and therefore you would not be able to get an allowance for them, additonal items such as satellite and internet plus mobile are often allowed but not landline allowance as this again is your parents responsibility. Food for an individual is up to a max of £195 and a max for clothing of £28 and £31 for meals at work.

If you did indeed get an IPO and subsequently lost your job you would simply get in touch with the OR and have it reviewed

Hi Stu, I hope things start looking up for you.

I'm a moderator rather than an administrator so unfortunately I can't do anything other than edit the title and bump this up to the top - sorry x

John or Melanie are the best people to answer this as I'm not sure what the allowance for a single person is - sorry.

How are things going for you?

As John says you won't get a contingency allowance as you don't pay all your DI into an IPA.

You will be allowed £10 for haircuts.

If you do get an IPA don't worry - if your income changes your IPA can be reassessed - I am in the process of having this done.

Thanks John

My rent home is just for rent, board, lodgings, television, gas, elec, council tax. It doesnt include food.

£140 a month on food is my food for home and work
If I cut contingency down to £40 and also include £10 for haircuts and £15 for drycleaning
The general expenses pays towards internet at home too
Could you change them for me John and include other things i am allowed so that I can see clearer

Thanks

Hi

the £550 includes basic foods, then there is £130 for food and food at work (£50 max for food at work so £80 for food at home) then a further £50 for housekeeping and general expenses. There is no provision for general expenses, you need to be more specific. How much is for rent, how much is for gas, etc etc.

There is no contingency allowance in bankruptcy as the minimum IPA is £50 against a DI of £100 which leaves you £50 for contingency anyway.

Clothing for a single person is high at £50.
The £25 for further education would have to come from your portion of your disposable income.

You have not included Hairdressing, Dry Cleaning.
There are a number of other allowable expenditures that will not apply in your case regarding children and pets and vehicle costs for example.

I think with you living with your parents as a single person you will struggle to avoid an IPA with your level of income (just my opinion).

Your past employment history should not concern you in respect of IPA. If you lose or change the job you have at the time bankruptcy is declared you can ask, every time, for your I&E to be reviewed.
