Posted - 17 March 2009 : 16:24:59 ok, when I did my SOA, I'd bee told by work that there would be no overtime anymore (had done quite a bit over xmas) and that we'd probably reduce down contracted hours (for a second time in 4 months)
I'm currently contracted to 16 hrs/wk, which is what I put on my SOA. I expected to get no further OT. I have now discovered after going back after holidays that they want me to do about 10 hrs OT this month. This will make my SOA figure totally wrong.
If they work out my income based on this over time, and then I dont do OT after that, it's gonna give me more DI than I have. What do I do? They desperately need me to do the OT at work, but I dread the chaos that could come from it.
Also, if my expenditures are cut down so I am allowed less, I would eventually have a DI (even though my actual outgoings are higher than that, because of their guidelines not allowing things). Could I feasibly end up being asked for an IPA from this supposed DI? |

Posted - 17 March 2009 : 16:40:58 Hi Sparkle,
The way I interpret it is that if your income rises (for whatever reason) and you have any DI, then you may have to pay an IPA if surplus income is over £99. This should not affect your living expenses already on your SOA. They would remain the same whether you are getting overtime or not, surely? The question is, do you want to have the overtime and if so, is it worth the extra money if you end up having to pay into an IPA? Also, as overtime cannot be guaranteed from one month to the next I am not sure how the OR would be able to work out a regular IPA for this sort of thing. Am I right in assuming you are not currently paying an IPA?
Maybe someone else could advise on this?
