im going to be discharged on the 9th April 09, i spoke to the RTLU who are currently dealing with my debts, he told me im being discharged on the date above, but he said i wont recieve any letter notifying me of this. is this right?

he just said come April the 9th thats it and im discharged, i thought there might of been a letter of some sort telling me.

Im currently paying my tax in my net pay, so im not sure of how to notify the tax people that i can now go on a tax code?

Hi, Everyone has different tax offices. the number and your NI will be on the original letter you received from the Inland Revenue when you first went NT. My tax office is in Sunderland but my OH is in East Kilbride, I think it all depends on the tax office your employer uses.

Ann

OK THANKS Ann

ILL HAVE TO LOOK INTO THIS I THINK!
I WAS WORRIED REALLY THAT I WOUOD BE PAYING MORE TAX THAN I SHOULD AFTER BEING ON A NIL T/C AL;L YEAR

Hi, I havn't been on for along while, I have just been sitting in the back ground reading all the posts. This one brought back memories of yesterday, i have been on Nil tax code since Oct 08, I work for a small company, and noticed two weeks ago everyones new tax code for 09/10 had arrived except mine, I rang the Inland revenue yesterday to ask when I would receive the revised code and was informed that it hadn't been amended back for 09/10 and was thanked for ringing,I asked about my OH's tax code and was asked if he could ring them, then they would start to generate the new tax code. I only rang them to put my mind at rest, as I didn't want to end up owing them money if it didn't change and my employer still had me on NT.
To put your mind at rest give your tax office a ring to make sure they have generated your tax code.

HMRC will send a new tax code to your employer.

sorry im sound abit thick, but do i need to let my employer know so he can let his accountant know?

or do the tax people write to my employer reguarding tax code?

Your tax code will change automatically like John says. You will revert to whatever your tax code will be for the new tax year.

WOULD I JUST GO AUTOMATICALLY BACK ON A TAX CODE THEN?
OR DO I NEED TO RING THE TAX OFFICE?

ALSO WOULD MY TAX CODE GO BACK TO NORMAL OR WOULD I BE PAYING MORE TAX

Hi

the change in your tax code will happen automatically at the end of this tax year, just before, coincidentally, your discharge.

If it's automatic discharge after a year you won't get anything from the OR, but the entry on the insolvency register will change to show you are discharged. This will remain on the register for a further 3 months.

I'm sorry, I don't know what happens about your tax code as mine never changed.
