Hi all
I went bankrupt on 1st May and now im in my 2nd panic zone! What worries me more than OR interview is the fact that I only started my new job a couple of weeks ago. Although its only shop work I am worrying myself stupid about getting time off for OR interview and about losing my job!!. My boss has been giving me overtime you see and this includes most week days, so im worried stiff about telling him that i need such an such day off for OR interview and the reaction i might get!!!
Has anyone here been in this situation before? How do bosses react to needing time off for OR interviews??
Can you normally get an OR interview on a day to suit you?? Help please!!!!

You will probably receive a NT tax code so you HR dept will find out but they won't know the reason why and shouldn't query this with you. This means that you won't pay tax as the OR will claim this from you and use it to pay your creditors.

no offence taken John :) yes this certainly seems a fairly apt solution.
Another question, will my employers get to know of my bankruptcy other than me telling them (Which i dont intend to) does anyone know?? and will it be affected??

Hi

If you are not a supersticious person in any way, might I suggest you tell your new employer that you have an appointment other than with the OR.
One which would naturally have to be arranged at fairly short notice.

As your employer is male then Sharon your debt problems appear to have clouded your knowledge of the way the world works (sorry this part is half tongue in cheek and yet as a male myself not really). Every man is a sucker for a female sob story and (forgive me) you could easily have possible "womens problem's" that need checking out.

As the employer is a male and you have immediately thrown yourself into working overtime at his request, this, I have no doubt, will be 100% enough and you certainly won't be asked for any further detail.

If the suggestion offends then you have my apologies.

** Should have added I have spent the greater part of my working life in management and I would never ever have questioned such a request for time off.

when you are given you're interview day and time if it's not convenient you can ask for it to be changed. They are quite accommodating
