Hi everyone

It is now nearly 7 weeks since I went BK and the OR still has not made contact with my creditors. Is this normal or just that half the nation appears to be insolvent now. Every letter I have had from creditors gets a call from me to them to inform them what has happened, give them the information they need and then they are happy not to disturb me again.

Any ideas?

Log the calls and then send it to the OR, who should give the firms a rocket as it is an offense to harras a bankrupt. Also send a log to the OFT and Trading Standards. They have been informed and are just being muppetts.

When they call ask the operators name and make a big thing about writing it down correctly against the firms name and say you will will be reporting them to the aOFT and TS for harrasing a bankrupt. The calls will dry up pretty quickly. Or if you can't be bothered with that if you pick up the phone and it is a creditor just say 'be back in a minute' put the phone down on the side and go and do something interesting. Let them sit there for how ever long it takes for them to hang up and waste their money on the phone call, and while they are hanging on for you they are not harrasing anyone else.

Did you send the creditors a copy of the BR certificate? If you have or you have passed the BR details onto the creditors by phone then forward all of the details/letters to the OR and they will give the creditors a good, and well deserved, slapping

I went BR on Monday and the ORs Assistant mentioned that it can take up to 6 weeks for them to contact the creditors however the BR Clerk advised that they are so busy that this could take up to 10 weeks. I have posted a copy of the BR certificate to my creditors and only received one call and they were happy to take the BR details.

I did receive one letter from Albion Collections, who have taken over a Halifax debt, telling me to 'PAY £xxxx.xx NOW' in big red letters on the top of the letter. The letter was dated the 7th May and I was declared BR on the 11th so it looks like they bought the debt at the wrong time!

Hi there,

I went BK on 6th March and I am still receiving letters from my creditors informing me of non payments. I still get the occasional phone call and last week I answered the phone and they went through the usual checks, asking my name, date of birth, etc, then suddenly asked me to hold, then came back on the phone and said "sorry I seem to have the wrong number". Obviously, they phoned me and then realised I was bankrupt. Was quite funny though.
I did mention to the OR that I was still receiving mail from the creditors and she informed me that it had taken some time for the letters to go out, but this should now have happened. However, I'm still receiving letters from the Bank of Scotland, so not sure what's happened there. My OR just told me to send any letters to her, if they appear worrying.

Hi acm, think is pretty much the norm. I went BR on 7th April. Didn't have my OR interview until 28th though but my creditors are still ringing me. They seem pretty much satisfied with me giving them my BR number etc and the call centre calls have started to dwindle thank goodness. Reckon the ORs are still catching up as so many people would have got in at the end of the last financial year. I have just received my Income/Exp form to fill in.
I know it is a pain but reckon the calls will stop shortly. Good luck!
