hi i have £39k debt have been in receipt of income support & DLA since 2002 due to mental illness, considering going BR as no way to repay the debt. For the last few years have been shuffling debt borrowing from peter to pay off paul with new credit cards on 0% balance transfers etc. I've ticked on the check box (on online credit card applications) 'self-employed' when applying for new CC's for these transfers. Other option was unemployed but not signing on. Could this be construed as criminally fraudulent when going BR by the official receiver ? could it lead to criminal charges ? Have obtained further 10k+ credit in recent years, always ticked self-employed on applications. any advice/info welcome.
many thanks i.a, david

It shouldn't lead to criminal charges but it may be frowned on by the OR and may lead to a BRO and even if this is the case you will still be in a better position than you are now.
