Posted - 16 May 2009 : 11:39:08 Hi, I'm now having a total panic attack about my options. I really thought an IVA was the answer to my problems but having spoken with an IP my DI is very very small so BR has been suggested. Trouble is I live in rented accomodation and I understand that this address would be put in the newspaper - how will this affect my Landlord (apart from having a heart attack) as this could potentially leave us homeless?? Is there anyway the address can be left out?? This is the only thing holding me back from moving forward with this and I feel that Im running out of time.

I think I'm going to send her an email briefly advising of my situation and assure her that the rent and bills will be paid as they always have been. Its actually me partner that pays for most of the rent and bills as I've been trying to pay my debt back so if I explain this I hope it will give her more confidence that the flat will still continue to be paid for.

Posted - 16 May 2009 : 16:07:57 Hi ladyjay we were in a rented property when going b/r we just told the agent who let the landlord know, as long as the rent was paid he was fine. we have since moved on to another rented property and never had any problems i think if you have been good tenants in the past then you should not have a problem, at this time i think there just glad to have tenants.

Posted - 16 May 2009 : 12:10:35 The best option is to speak to your landlord before declaring BR. Advise him of your situation and assure him that you still have regular income and will continue to be able to pay the rent. Also tell him that it is only your debts that you have problems paying and not the rent, utility bills, etc. If you haven't defaulted on the rent in the past then they should be ok about it.
There isn't really a way to have the BR notice left out of the paper but it is only a very small ad that can be easily missed.
