Posted - 29 May 2009 : 17:56:01 I have three children at home - one 17 years, one 18 years and one 19 years. One of my children is working and is paying rent - which I will put on the form. The other two children have had jobs but both have been made redundent and have been unable to get further employment as yet. How do I stand with my food bill/clothes allowance etc.

Posted - 29 May 2009 : 18:17:11 Are the two who have been made redundant claiming job seekers allowance? If not then they will not be able to make a contribution to the household and should be counted as dependent adults. There is a section within the SOA (10.1), which asks you to state all the members of your household and any that are dependent on you. You should put the details of your 3 children in this section and mention the 2 (or maybe 3 depending upon how much he/she earns) that are dependent on you.
As they are dependent upon you the OR will take this into account in your I&E.
