Hi All,
I found an old credit card that i have had for years with Tescos. the balance on this account was £5 in credit so i didn't include it in my BR. The card is still in date and i have checked it in a atm (changed pin) and it all worked ok. The credit limit is £1000.
1. Should i have told OR and should i tell them now post ED?
2. If not the above, do you think its ok to use it or will i get into trouble.

yes, I mean it is not a fortune but we can manage to save a few hundred pounds per month. Won't be having a holiday this year though as I have just had a major operation but are going to use the money to get the garden sorted out professionally as I cannot do anything for 12 weeks. |

I have lived for over 2 years now with no credit and its a great feeling and I will NEVER be applying for any ever again. We even have savings now, something we never had before  |

I know your right. i have survived the past 8months since going BR without using credit. it is a wonderful feeling knowing that i dont owe anyone anything.

Be brave and cut the card in half before you are tempted ... even if you use it for just £10.00 you know you won't be able to stop at that and soon enough it will be for £100 and the snakes and ladders game begins all over again.
I liken myself to an alcoholic ... there is no such thing as just 1 harmless drink again ... be on the watch all the time. I have £10.00 in my purse to last until 12 June when I get my job seekers but I would not go back to the way things were in the past for anything. Yes I had loads of money but it was all on credit ... and it caught up with me eventually. |

Yes i know what you mean. I dont think i would have used it but just wanted to know the rights and wrongs. i was having a spring clean when i found the card thats why i didn't declare it on the SOA, i had honestly forgotton about it and as there was no debt i never got phone calls etc. I must admit the thought of having a backup of a credit card is a tempting one though!

No more credit for me ever ... I will now go without ... if ever a credit comes through my door my scissors will cut it in half immediately. Now I know why my hair went grey after all those years of worrying. The word credit no longer exists in my vocabulary.
Some people will go back to credit again that is their personal choice but I have been down that road and will find a different way home now!

thanks for your advice. i think i will just phone the OR. It would have been nice to have the credit as noone in thier right mind to give me any!

In theory, now that you are discharged theere are no rules against having any amount of credit (it's just damn hard to get).
However, it should have been on the SOA, and once the BR notice went in the london gazette, most financial institutes stop the accounts. As for calling the OR, I probably would, and just ask.
