Apparantly the utilities will help you, but I don't know the ins and outs of it.

Ring the CAB as suggested and ask for their advice.

why would the utility companies pay for your bankruptcy and would you have to fall into a certain criteria.

Totally agree with Skippy.

If you stop paying your creditors then it shouldn't take you long to save up the payment.

Do you mean for the BR fees? If so most of us save the money by stopping paying creditors. Otherwise some of the utility companies will pay the fees, but you will need to speak to the CAB about this.
