I need to petition for bankruptcy in the UK whilst now living in the US. In regards to presenting the petition to the High Court if I can not be present in the UK, can it be a friend who already has lasting power of attorney or does it have to be a solicitor? How do I find a suitable solicitor and what are their average fees for this process?

If you have a friend that already has the power of attorney then you can use them. The 3 professional companies that post on this board would be able to assist as well but I can't say what their fees are:

Hi,

It can be a friend that you use. It doesn't have to be a solicitor.

I know the fees are more than a normal court as you have to use the High Court, but I have no idea what they are.

Hopefully one of the experts will be able to give more information.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time
