Hi you might want to look at this part of the Technical manual from the OR. http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/freedomofinformation/technical/TechnicalManual/Ch1-12/Chapter9/part1/Part_1.htm Paragraghs 9.11a to 9.11e

It does really seem to depend upon which council you live in as to their process.

Some are delighted that you have informed them and happy to write off everything prior to the Br date.

Other councils want proof of house surrender, documents from mortgage company etc etc etc .

others are happy to include all arrears from previous years.

Technically anything included in a liability order will be included but there are other variations.

They soulh split your bill into two parts pre and post bankruptcy as a debt is incurred as you "use" your allotted time in the property not when payment is requested

Am I right in thinking that the current year's arrears can't be included?

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Bit more complicated im afraid, it depends alot on whether a liability order has been granted.
