I have recently made the decision to go bankrupt and have been looking online for some help and came across this site which looks so helpful. Its a really scarry thing this but I am starting to plough through the forms. I have a few queries but hopefully this is an easy one to start with. It is myself that is going BR and not my husband. I do not drive so do not have a car but in Section 3 Question 3.9 asks if I have use of a car that I do not own. Im sure im being thick here but does use mean drive or just the fact that I sometimes get a lift to work? Many thanks

If you are struggling with the Statement of Affairs why not give Vicki a call on the Bankruptcy helpline - they offer a form filling service for a modest fee.

Thank you all so much for the help so far. I have been doing a bit each day because to be honest when I started it just made me feel ill. Thanks for the advice on the car and yes im afraid I will probably have a lot more questions before I finish. It is already helping to know that there is help here and that you are not being judged.

Try not to worry too much about making mistakes on the SOA. The BR clerk will go through a couple of sections with you when you submit the forms to make sure that the information you have entered is correct. They will cross bits out and write in the correct information if required before the forms go in front of the judge.

You will also go through the form with the OR during the interview and changes can be made then to the information as well.

You sign the form to say the you have provided the correct information 'to the best of your knowledge'. This doesn't necessarily mean that the information is 100% correct, it means that as far as you are aware the information is 100% correct so if you have misinterpreted a question and put down incorrect information it won't be a problem.

As others have mentioned there are plenty of people on this board who can help complete the forms so post any questions you have and someone should be able to answer it pretty quickly.

With regard to the forms try and do a section each day then after a week you will have soon got through them, if there are any parts you dont understand you can leave it and move on the CAB will help you or you could phone the CCCS for help. With regard to the question it is to see if you have the use of a company vehicle which may be noted for Income and Expenditure.

Hi Mrsroller

They're not the most user-friendly forms. Lots of people to help on here though if you get stuck or opt for the Bankruptcy Assist option - see left hand side of the page.

Good luck.

it means if you drive another car, Husbands, family members, work vehicles etc. As you do not drive then you do not need to put it down.

Feel free to ask any more questions

As someone else said, the only stupid question is an unasked one
