SSAFA have been known to help ex-servicemen/women and some utility companies may also help. Check with the CAB as they will be able to tell you if you are eligible for assistance.
If not then it is a case of taking several months to save the money or hoping that your creditors declare you BR, which isn't likely unless the council, HMRC or AMEX are your creditors.
Are you still paying your creditors each month? If so stop the payments and use this money to save for the fee.
