Posted - 18 August 2009 : 16:10:56 Right then guys, this is going to be a looong question. My partner and I are not married, we have joint mortgage and secured loan but all other debts are individual. If we have to declare BR seperately, because we pool our money every month how will we work out expenditure. Basically we have a baby as well so I am on maternity leave at the moment which means I am only having SMP but because the individual debts are mostly in my name when it comes to doing expenditure if it is seperate my partner won't have much to put down therefore it will seem as if he has lots of money left over but he won't because he has to keep me and the baby as well. Will they take this into account. I only ask as i remember when filling out expenditures for the CCJ's and they would only let you go on your wage and exactly half of all bills not more or less.
Based on My partner and I and one baby this is what I have worked out so far but obviously i've pooled all our income together.
Income including Child Benefit and Tax Credits and SMP £2049
Outgoings: mostly estimated Rent 560.00 Counil tax 110.00 water rates 40.00 gas 45.00 electric 45.00 food / toiletries 450.00 clothes 125.00 Child support (CSA) 130.00 telephone 50.00 travelling 150.00 tv licence 12.00 Home insurance 15.00 Pet care & medication 60.00 I can provide proof for this Optician 12.00 Hairdressers 30.00
Totalling £1824
What about equipment for the baby as he getts older? Highchair, ne car seats etc etc and tax for the car, mot, maintenance? Anything missed? |

Posted - 19 August 2009 : 19:16:18 Just in case the unthinkable does happen before you can go BR, look at this link and it will tell you all about bailiffs and debt collectors:

Posted - 19 August 2009 : 10:23:12 how long is until you can go bankrupt?
If I were you I would not pay them, I ended up with a CCJ and I just basically hid, even if they send bailiffs around, DO NOT answer the door and make sure your windows are closed and locked at all times, they can only take your goods if you let them in the first time.
The sooner you can get the fee money together, the better

Posted - 18 August 2009 : 17:02:21 Another quick question. I have CCJ's which I pay £10.00 per month to. Should I stop paying these also as they will be included on br eventually or should I keep these up as they may return me to court or send bailiffs around. I just thinking of ways to save as much as possible quickly.

Posted - 18 August 2009 : 16:56:30 Thank you v much for that.
I've just applied and have been accepted for a cashminder acct with Co-op in readiness of BR. Fantastic people, v frienndly, even advised when going BR that acct will be frozen for 3 days and to withdraw money to last the 3 days!
Am over the moon with this acct as main concern was not having debit card, I purchase a lot online so a rugular atm card would have been a nightmare. No cheque book ar cheque guarantee amt on card but who would want them when they are just about to go br.
Can't believe Co-op are the only bank that want to help people with bad credit or br. GOOD ON YOU, thats what I say, we are still human after all |

Posted - 18 August 2009 : 16:34:09 Pet care & medication 60.00 - Even with proof of medication the OR may not allow the medication as an expense and expect it to come out of any disposable income. Pet care is normally £21 or so.
Hairdressers 30.00 - £10 per adult and £5 per child is the norm so you will probably only get £20
If you have a car then put down an amount for insurance, mot, servicing, repairs and road tax. You can divide the insurance, road tax and mot by 12 for these costs and estimate the monthly costs for servicing and repairs.
Based on your income/outgoings you shouldn't have to worry about an IPA either. |
