Some of the creditors can become more aggresive but your going BR so what can they do, they proberbly dont have time to take any serious action.

I would do as Melanie advised and maybe even change your phone number

Be wary though, some creditors, when informed of impending bankruptcy, will become more aggresive, not less, we had this with Yorkshire Bank, trying to squeeze the last penny out

My advice would be to save yourself a lot of worry and hassle by ringing the telephone number on the letter and informing them of your date of bankruptcy hearing, they will then have a complete change of attitude and back off! For the sake of a phone call why give yourself so much worry, the creditor can also save themselves the expense of a visit (which would only be added to your account!)

Just don't answer the door, it is your house, take control

Hi,

I received the same note from my MBNA cards (1 Virgin, 1 Abbey). The notes were from Aegis debt collectors and RMA. Neither of them turned up.

If they do turn up do not think of them as bailiffs or as loan shark collectors. They will not be 6 foot 6 inch meat-heads who will threaten you but normal people just doing a job. Tell them that you are declaring bankruptcy and give them the date of the hearing if you have it booked. They don't have the power to enter your property or take any goods so don't let them into your house and tell them that you will only communicate with them in writing in the future.
