Posted - 02 September 2009 : 13:35:02 I went bankrupt on 20th October 2008 so I am due to be discharged in about 6 weeks time. I am in the process of buying the beneficial interest in my home. My Mother as offered to give me the money to buy the BI. Now should I wait until after 20th October 2009 or could my mother give me cheque for the amount. I was told by an expert that this could be done. It saves any a hassle over future interest in my home by a third party.
The problem is that I have paid £130 for a valuation on 7th August, would this still be valid on 20th October, or would I have to get an up to date valuation. Thanks again

Posted - 03 September 2009 : 09:26:20 Hi Paul
Good to hear from you Paul.
It's just that I phoned the OR office today and she said she had not recieved anything from you. She also said she needed 2 valuations, I explained to her how much these cost (£130) and that I could not get the money for another one. She understood this and told put me to put this in writing so she could pass it on, should I do this?
I appreciate the help you are giving me Paul, but I could be waiting forever if the documents sent them have got lost in the post or mislaid.
All the best and look forward to hearing from you.

Posted - 02 September 2009 : 21:45:55 Hi Chris
timeframes are not a problem however the money must not go into your account from your Mom because technically this could be classed as a windfall.
The cheque to the Official Receiver needs to be made out directly to them. I can confirm that documents and an offer has been made and we need to just wait. I will chase them for you on Monday.
On a different note 20th October !!!!! wow that has gone quickly.

Posted - 02 September 2009 : 13:42:23 Hi debtrider,
I do not know the answer to allm of your question, but so far as a valuation is concerned, I would go to a local independent estate agent (I was one of those nice people once!) and say that you are looking at relocating and can you let me have a valuation please... It will cost you nothing and should be acceptable to the OR
On the balance of the question, I cannot advise, but I am sure someone will, good luck, Richard
