As someone who ran a letting agency for a number of years (until BR) we used to seek references from previous l/lords or employers.
We would accept a BR person (if they had been honest from the start and not "found out") with a guarantor.
It might be a gamble, but I would say be up front when you ask - do not try to conceal - have to say, some agents will say no right away

Posted - 03 September 2009 : 20:13:16 There is nothing stopping you renting when you are BR however most rental agencies carry out credit checks, which you will not pass when you are BR and may not pass immediately afterwards as your credit score will be pretty bad. Some agencies may allow you to rent but normally require 6 months rental deposit due to the poor credit rating.
Private landlords are the best option so have a look in the private ads in a local paper.
