Posted - 01 October 2009 : 22:57:32 if you have been awarded money from an acceident during bankruptsy, which the official receiver says he has no interest in, but i have heard if i buy an asset it can be a grey area. how long after you discharge do you have to wait before you can buy an assert? also do you have to go to court for an early discharge ? once again thank you guys and girls for putting a stress head at rest

Posted - 02 October 2009 : 20:12:07 Hi Suev, i think what the person who told you this was talking about was what is called an after aquired asset. This only applies during bankruptcy (ie prior to discharge). This no longer applies after you have been discharged and you can get any assets you want

Posted - 02 October 2009 : 09:59:33 If the Official Receiver is not interested in your award about which I assume you have informed him, you can purchase an asset with it immediately after your discharge. Once you are out of bankruptcy, you are not answerable to the OR unless something comes to light which occurred during your bankruptcy period.
