serving police officers are not effected by Br as it is deemed as a Lawful discharge of debt. if anything failure to deal with increasing debt problems is more likely to lead to dismissal. acpo guidance states bankruptcy alone is not a disciplinary offence but correctly as stated officers are not able to able for certain sensative posts. security staff need an sia licence and i believe are subject to vetting as many roles involve dealing with large cash amounts. |

Police officers who are already employed will probably be able to keep their jobs, but they will not be considered for sensitive posts.
Most forces will not employ BR people unless they have been discharged for three years.

Debt info, as I stated "I may be wrong" but I am sure I saw a post from one of the experts saying it had changed. Can any of the experts help me here? You may be right and it is up to the discretion of the Chief Officer.

I think most forces are sympathetic to serving officers, but they won't necessarily employ someone who has been bankrupt.
I've contacted my local force and they will consider an application from me 3 years after my discharge date.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

not wanting to hog BDMs thread
i have no doubt that their will be some serving police officers looking at this information and concerned for their own jobs.
yes their are serving police officer who are BR and it has not effected their employment, yes some have had to move department.
most forces will want to support employees, the circumstances of each BR will be examined by the internal pro standards dept who will liaise with the OR. the merits of the case will then be reviewed
The Police Federation have indirect links with Paul and his team at Reviva and will actually encourage officers to make contact with Reviva.
having financial difficulties is not a criminal offence, if you are in the job speak to your staff association and ask for a referal to Reviva UK.
although the police will not directly say, i doubt that they will start employment of a BR or potential BR until all of the circumstances have been examined.
now coming back to BDM, the fear of the unknown is probably what is stopping the security company taking you on ?

there have been police officers go through BR it is one of the few times that the petitioners details can be requested not to be published in the london gazette or insolvency service website

The laws have not changed and it is not in insolvency law anyway, it is in the police rules. It states that if a police officer fails to pay a debt that is lawfully due then the officer may be dismissed. it is at the discression of the chief officer |

Its a lottery - I am aware that some Police authorities do accept BR people - Some employers feel that BR`s are a higher risk!!

I may be wrong but I thought I read on here from one of the experts, that the law had changed about the Police and BR.

should have said that their are a list of jobs that a BR cannot do. Security officer and police are not included in that list

the employer though has lots of choice at the moment.
