Hi Paula,
I went bankrupt a couple of days ago. The cost was £510 - made up of a £360 'deposit' and a £150 court fee. I've heard that the fee can be means tested but I don't know how to go about that.
Also, if you are swearing in a High Court it is a further £12 for some odd reason.
So, to answer your question, if you are in a bog standard District Court and you aren't looking to get the court fee reduced then you will need a grand total of £1020 for you and your husband to declare bankruptcy.
Look on it as an investment - you can't afford *not* to pay. Only a few days in to my bankruptcy and the feeling of relief is amazing.
