hey all

OR rang at 11:05 ( was set for 11:00 ). I spoke to her first (hubby still on phone to her).

She explained why they interviewed (IPA/BRU etc). Then she confirmed the details on the order. first we looked at the debts and she wanted to know when we started to struggle, what the money was spent on, if anything was incurred in last 12 months. This took some time to try and remember, and she asked about certain points on the way (how much was owed in 2005 etc), but she was really good when I struggled to answer, or had any questions.

Then we looked at assets. I have 4 pounds of savings, and at the time of SOA 440 for housekeeping. She says they will write to the co-op to declae no interest in the acct or funds.

Car: She looked at the value of my car (£200) and exempted it. She didn't ask if I use it for work etc at all.

She looked at the I&E, and said she didn't think we'd get an IPA at all (will post I&E in mo), but would double check wage slips. I explained about OT we've done and how it wouldnt continue, and she sid they'd be taking our long term pay into accounnt rather than inc this temp OT.

Then hubby did his, which was much quicker as he didnt have to cover I&E or joint debts. He gets to keep his car as well.

All in all, she was very nice, not judgement, fine with us not knowing things. The interview for us both took 55 mins.

outgoing: 1587

Rent: 425 (allowed)
Housekeeping: 360 (allowed)
Gas/electric: 70 (allowed)
Water: 30 (allowed)

Telephone: 100 (allowed, surprisingly. explained that hubby works 12 hour night shifts alone and it inc. his mobile phone and mobile boradband to give him contact with outside world as he suffers from depression and has previously been signed off because he struggled with the night shifts)

Travel: 90 (allowed)
Clothing: 60 (allowed)
Council tax: 100 (allowed)
Tv: 32 (13 allowed for license, not allowed sky)
Car costs: 100 (allowed)
Meals at work: 30 (allowed)
Dry cleaning: 10 (allowed)
Prescriptions: 10 (allowed)
Dental: 20 (allowed)
Opticians: 20 (allowed)
Hair dressing: 20 (allowed)
Pet insurance: 50 (probably not allowed)

She said that even ignoring the pet ins and sky, we still wouldnt have anywhere near enough for an IPA, and although she will review the payslips, she doesnt see we can get an IPA.

I'm amazed how much we were allowed!

Why would pet insurance not be allowed? Do pets get treated poorly by them? Contact the nspca, that is not right. Pet insurance is what all pet owners should have by law, I wouldnt dream of cancelling my pet insurance and think people who dont have any shouldnt be allowed to keep pets because this is where most of the probelms with neglect happen when owners cannot afford vet fees.

Glad you got the rest of it sorted and it shows to other people it is not as bad as people imagine, nowhere near in fact.

That's a bit harsh YNWA. In an ideal world everyone should have pet insurance but it's not always possible. If people can't afford vets fees the RSPCA, PDSA and Blue Cross have schemes to help.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
