I petitioned for my own BR on 13.5.08 and spoke to OR for 10mins on last Thursday my actual interview is on 4.6.08. When I spoke with examiner she said that she had no problems with me keeping my Alliance & Leicester account and that she would write straight away to confirm this. Before going BR I spoke generally to the branch who said that it was there policy to keep accounts open if OR agrees.

I have heard nothing from the bank and my account as not been frozen, how long does it usually take for OR office to contact banks. Is it likely that they just have not been told of my BR yet.

Hi tess
My OR interview was on the 9th May.
My bank knew of my BR and wrote to me within a fortnight of that interview.
I would think you need to give them at least a fortnight after your OR interview to react and freeze/leave your bank account.
It depends on how soon they are advised or see your BR on the register/in London Gazette.
You could always ring the bank and see if they have been contacted by the OR - then you will know one way or the other.
If it's bad news there's always the good old Co-op cashminder account!
