The BR law in England and Wales is different than in NI. More information is available at http://www.ivanorthernireland.co.uk/bankruptcy.html

As for your employment you will need to check your contract very carefully. You could also make an anonymous call to your HR Dept.

It should not cause a problem, I worked for many years in the Insolvency Service Department of the Civil Service, the part which actually deals with bankruptcy, and had staff file for bankruptcy - it did not cause them any employment issues. But for your own peice of mind ring your HR section, you do not have to give your name, just ask hypothetically, that way you will be safe in the knowledge your employment will be safe.

Hi

I agree with Melanie - a quick call to your HR people should settle your mind.

I am sure that you wil be OK - I know a number of public sector employees that are BR

Good luck, Richard
