I was declared bankcrupt last week and have my interview with the OR on thursday. I am a single mother with 2 childre, 15 and 8. I have a mortgage. My debt is £20k in total.
What I would like to know is items I can claim for as expenditure, given that I have my family.
Any advice etc would be most appreciated. I work full time for the NHS and also wanted to know if this would affect my job!

You will need to check your employment contract regarding whether BR will affect your job or not but I can't see why it would.

The full list of things you can claim for and their guideline amounts can be found at www.insolvency.gov.uk/DocumentLibrary/Policy/Excel/Household%20Expenditur.xls

Good luck with the interview.

The liklehood is that you will be Ok with your job, but check your contract of employment to see if there is an express clause about being BR.

I know a few nurses that are BR - for example - so not sure what position you hold

You may also wish to consider talking to your HR section in confidence - or to make an anonymous call to them and ask the question direct.

Good luck, Richard
