Hi All, My Wife and I will be discharged from bankruptcy on the 8th of June, My wife had an ipa for nil tax code which ended April 1st, ( new tax year ) I have been unemployed through out the bankruptcy with no ipa, We have both received letters from the official receiver saying that he has applied to be released as trustee, My question is I have received a letter today for a job interview which is good news at last especially if im successful, The only thing that is worrying us is that it is so close to the end of the bankruptcy with no ipa, this could alter now and could end up no better off with an ipa for 3 yrs, Is it likely that since the trustee has been asked to be released that we would receive an i & e form within the next 3 weeks ? dont know what to do for the best

Hi

First of all, good luck with the interview.

If you are successful, (whic I hope that you are), then you will not be starting before your discharge. If that is the case and you start your job after discharge, no IPA.

I hope that is the outcome, Richard

Hi Mark

I agree with Housing, your starting date needs to be thought about

If you have to start your job within your bankruptcy, you should notify the OR before the end of one month of first income that you have increased your income,

Mark , even if you do receive an IPA it is not the end of the world, you will be allowed certain allowances and a small amount as Disposable income then the OR will claim a % of the extra money and not the full amount.

I do hope that the result is a double positive good job and No IPA

regards Richard

Hi Both, Thank-you for your replies, will consider my start date if successful, One more question, If I am sucessfull and the job required immediate start say 24th May I am required to notify the receiver with 21 days of my income change, This will then take me over my discharge date, I have read on the goverment insolvency site that any ipa must be entered into and signed by the bankrupt/ receiver prior to the discharge date to be valid, A bit of a sticky one I agree, Just trying to cover every aspect
Regards-Mark

Hi mark

prob best to avoid the argument with them, because their counter argument will be that they did not have the full facts at the time.

Go get the job and then negotiate on the start time

regards Richard
