I was discharged from bankruptcy in October 09 and I am now looking at opening a savings account.
I already have a co op cashminder account but would now like to open some sort of savings account. I have to look at trying to put some money away for the future and not spend it all at once like I used to.
Does any know of a savings account I could open now I am discharged.
I cannot understand for the life of me why it should be difficult to open a savings account. It's not as if I am asking for a loan or an overdraft, it would be my open money I am depositing.
Opening a savings account will help me manage my money a lot better. If I have extra cash from my earnings in my current account then I might be tempted to spend it.
Anyone any ideas of a savings account I could open without being rejected.
Thanks

Hi Debtrider,
ther was a post a few days ago that may have the answer for a savings account as you are now discharged. I cannot recall who did the post - have a scout and see it was this week, Richard

Hi, I've just been on the phone to the co-op...we have had to swop our current account to a cashminder due to our bankruptcy. The guy on the phone said as soon as we have been discharged we will be able to open up a savings account again with them. He also mentioned they provide insurance which is payable in installments too.... Hope this helps, x |

I have a savings account with the Co-op but I had to appeal before they would open it as I failed the credit check!
I also have my car insurance with them and they wouldn't let me pay in installments. I'm not sure if this was to with my credit score or something to do with my address.

Ooh and there I was getting all giddy thinking how helpful they we being. He gave me all the blurb on the phone about how they like to help etc etc....Thought it was all too good to be true...
I would have thought that most people who have recently been discharged would fail a credit check?
