hi everyone

me and my husband are both br which is due to end in less the 4 weeks my husband has a ipa for £80 a month i do not have one

im being made redundant in sept which i will be out of my br by then but this is going to affect our house hold income which we will be down £600 a month and as my hubby has a ipa he is going to let the or know as he only has £160 surplus hunce the £80 ipa he will have to pay all his wage into the bills as i will not be able to put any thing in im hoping to claim job seekers at £65 a week but do not want to put this into the bills as i have my own car and bills to pay for out.

i was just wondering how we stand when i will no longer be bankrupt so do i have to pay any of my money into the bills as it will be a benefit i will be getting ?.also what will happen if when i get another job if lets say i earn £500 can i say how much i will put into the bills say like £100 or will i have to pay all my wage into the bills just that i would really like to start having a bit of money for myself and as i have no ipa and wont be br was wondering if this is possible or will the or say i have to pay more ?

The OR will expect you at all times to pay a fair share of the household bills, based on your reltive incomes. When on JSA this is going to be virtually nothing and the OR probably wont expect him to pay the IPA. If you get a job and say you are earning 1/3 of the househld income you will be expected to pay 1/3 of the household outgoings, Ip they reinstate an IPA depends entirely on what the circumstances are at the time

The best thing for you, and anyone in a similar position, is to get in touch with your OR when there are any changes to a household's income and have a full reassessment of your new circumstances.

Hope this helps, Melanie
