The terms of your bankruptcy is that you cannot take credit of more than £500 without telling the person you are bankruptcy.

Frankly i am shocked that you would want to take credit out so soon, and i doubt very much that any bank would lend to you

You need to save up for things like this, I think that is what bankruptcy is all about, financial rehabilitation. I was bankrupt 3 years ago, have no intention of getting credit ever again (I do have a small catalogue account though as the shops near me are rubbish, so I just order essential clothes from it and pay it off) and have savings for items such as: cars, holidays, new tvs, washing machines, etc.

We have learned to live with what we have, we did not get an IPA and were both discharged early so I then got a job and all that money goes in a savings account each month so I am not tempted to spend it

I too am quite shocked that you would consider a loan and you are not even discharged yet, how would you pay it back if you did get one??

This site is available for anyone, as an advice forum for people who have debt problems and considering bankrutpcy as an option, or for those connected to anyone who has debt problems, as debt affects evryone in a household/relationship,or for those who have already gone bankrupt. It is not here to give advice on taking out more debt.

I am suprised that this is something you would even consider when you have not even obtained your discharge from your present bankruptcy

Hello, I do not think that we should judge other people on here. Every one is an individual and obviously this person just wanted advise about a loan for their daughters wedding. Whilst others may never wish to get credit again, then others may wish to get credit - even if it is to just start building up their credit report again. I know that I am trying to do this, as one day i would like to be buy a house and have to improve my credit rating some how in order to do this. Jane.I - who is your catalogue accuont with - as this is a good way to start rebuilding your credit rating - i might see if I can get one.

patl - I do not think that you will be able to get a loan as you are not discharged yet, and even when you have been discharged people find it very hard to get approved for a loan. I suggest you try and think of another alternative.
Thank you

Please listen to Melanie's/Debtinfo's advice. This has given me a fresh start to learn from the painful mistakes I made. My life was like a long prison sentence whilst I was in debt and I was often malnorished through not eating properly as all my money went on the bills every month just paying the high interest on the cards. A treadmill comes to mind getting nowhere. The credit companies are fine with this of course.

Bankruptcy and my fresh start
I get all my clothes and household items from Charity Shops now and I sleep good at night without my nightmares of waking up with the same problems staring me in the face. I have no permanent job but a low paid temping booking which could end tomorrow so I never went to go down that miserable road again. You could say I'm financially poor as a church mouse but at least all my bill are now paid every month and even if it is just a few pounds left over each week, at least I can spend them with a clear conscience as they are all mine. You'd be surprised what bargains you can get in CHARITY SHOPS these days. Even if I had the money to blow on a wedding I would not pay it I have better things to do with my money ... like save some for a rainy day.

Good advice from Melanie and Debtinfo:
Take it.
A wedding day will be gone in 24 hours
The debt stays with you a lifetime.
Even millionaires go BANKRUPT.
