Can anyone throw some light on the subject of providing old bank & credit card statements, please?

Somewhere I picked up that usually the OR’s office only asks for the last 12 months’ statements – is this common practice, or do they want to go back a full 5 years?

Does it make any difference if you are self employed (no separate bank/credit card accounts)?

Normally the OR requests banks/CC statements from the last 12 months. If you don't have them then it isn't a major problem as the OR can get them from the bank/CC company. They may look further back into your financial history but you aren't normally expected to provide statements that are older than 12 months.

If you are self employed then the OR would expect you to be able to provide all of the financial records for 12 months as you should be keeping these for tax purposes, etc.

Thanks - I presume that they won't ask for these to be available at the actual interview, but I'll start digging everything out anyway...
