Hi, I needs some advice please, I have split up with my wife, I have given her, her share of the value of our house through a solicitor so the house is in my name only . My question is this, am I in anyway responsible for any of the debts my wife has accumulated, these debts are solely in her name, she has since moved out of the house and is living elsewhere. I am afraid that I might have to sell my home to pay for her debts

no if you have given her a fair share of the assets already then there should not be a problem

The debts are what she occurred when we were together, I found out later, will this matter, what can I do if debt agencies call to see her do I just tell them she no longer lives at this address?

So they (debt agencies) can't do anything against me or my home then if she has the debt in her name and doesn't live there any more, I am sorry to keep asking this but I am very worried about this matter.

not as such, but obviously if they have that as her last known address then any court action they try to take will be taken against that address, which leaves you with 2 optins, try to prove to them she does not live there any more or tell them where she does live

If push comes to shove I will have to tell them where I think she has gone, but I don't want to get involved. If I give them an address which I think she has gone and she doesn't respond to any letter etc it is not my fault is it can they do anything to me? I just want this gone, it is very stressful.

Did she get a fair share of the equity? If not there may still be implications for you re. the house.

Yes she got half the value that was mentioned when we had the house valued last year.
