Hi Everyone, I have got my interview by phone tomorrow, and I am really scared! What if I say the wrong thing, or freeze with fright! I think this is more terrifying than the bankruptcy, Anyway my question is what would happen if they dont accept your explanation for your debt can they reverse your bankruptcy? As I am on benefits I dont think I will have to pay anything each month, I know I am going to be so nervous as I am scared they will not accept my explanations, even though the judge said she could clearly see what had gone wrong. Is there anything anyone can advise me to say or do to help my interview go smoothly? My debt is through a lot of things I did to stay afloat robbing Peter to pay Paul, living beyond my means, and stupidty Any help or advice will be gratefully received Thanks Maxine x |

Hi Maxine - you'll be fine. Get everything out ready - copy of your SOA, pen and paper, double vodka (or glass of water!) I too was very nervous before my call, and jumped out of my skin when ithe phone rang but with hindsight it was very straight forward and not at all scary. My examiner told me to tell her if I needed a break so don't be afraid to ask to stop if you need to Maxine. The examiner was prepared with questions to ask and all you do is answer them honestly. If you can't remember something - tell them and say you will get back to them with the information. I did this and it was no problem to the examiner at all. They can't reverse the BR order - so don't worry about that. They take everything you say as the truth - they will understand you robbed peter to pay paul. I did that too. If you forget to tell the OR something you can always contact them afterwards. You will find the OR staff are really approachable and understanding Maxine.
What time is your phone call?

Hi Vicki Thanks for your advice. My interview is at 10am in the morning,I have no problem with telling the OR the truth, just a bit worried about their reaction. I feel so stupid to get myself in such a mess! You are such a big help on here and your understanding and help is a god send to people like me :-) I have been so worried I have made myself feel ill, got a very sore throat and feel rotten, no doubt it will be a lot better than I think, as it was going to court which I did and you were right about that, so thank you hun so much! Hi Maxine
I had my interview last week. I wasn't able to answer all their questions and just kept apologising and said that I couldn't remember what I'd consolidated and when. I got the impression that they are just looking to gather enough info to put together a general picture of how you debt has built up. If they really need any specific info they can investigate further. I was very open and honest and they probably have an inbuilt detector for people who may not be being completely honest. Your reasons for your debt sound very similar to mine.
Good Luck

hi maxine nearly there mate, try to remember the OR is not there to judge,or trick you,as Dee advised just be honest and open.I found the OR had a good idea of my circumstances etc from my SOA and used (my face to face)interview to confirm a few facts, at the end he was able me to tell me how he expected my BR to progress etc. Good luck and try not too worry its all going to be fine. I expect good news from your next post so let us know how it went. |

Hi Everyone, I have just had my interview, and it was short and sweet! It lasted 15 mins and the lady was sooo nice and very understanding, just as you all predicted. She said she totally understands how and why it happened and said if all the paperwork ect can be completed in the next 6 months then it will be an early discharge. She didnt mention my outgoings so I asked if they were ok and she said yes they were fine. She said I can call her anytime if I have any queries or if I get any letters or calls that worry me. I really could not have got through all this process without everyone on this fantastic forum giving me advice and support so a big hug for you all you are stars!! I intend to keep coming on the forum and see if I can give encouraging words to anyone else when they find themselves in the same position I did. THANK YOU!!!!! Maxine x

Hi again everyone, I am so relieved I feel like a different person, I now have a future to look forward too and believe me when I say I WILL NEVER USE CREDIT AGAIN EVER! I am still on cloud nine, and have the same feelings as when I came out of court a few short weeks ago, I am so lucky to have found such a great bunch of people who help and advise everyone who comes on here you are fantastic and I would never have even got through the forms without your help! So I say it loud and clear.....THANK YOU!!! I will still keep coming on here even if it is to just give words of encouragement to others who are weighed down by debt! Thanks all, Maxine x |
