I have received a bill from the Council Tax, April 2005-2006, I was not living at the property on those dates. I asked the council to prove that I was there, they stated they had no evidence and I cannot prove this either. Now the council have stated they are going to take attachment of earnings from me. What am I supposed to do ?

Hi,

Can you prove that you weren't there at that time?

Pop down to your local CAB and have a word with them - I'm sure they will be able to assist.

Follow through

You will be alright

Hi Amy

Why do the Council think you were living in that particular property at the time? Do you have any evidence of your changed address after April 2006? Perhaps a bank statement or utility bill from another property? Unless you can prove that you were not at the property then unfrtunately I think you are going to have a struggle
