Dilemma...... I lost my job late last year, and to cut a long story short, am on the verge of bankruptcy. Infact going to see someone tomorrow for a certificate of insolvency. My dilemma is that I have been offered a new job, which after moving to rented accomodation would mean the wages are adequate enough to pay our living expenses. However my husband sees it differently he thinks everything after living expenses will be taken by trustee, and I will be working for nothing! I don't want to be on benefits it's just not ME! Does anyone know the exact amount they take of the surplus. I have heard varied amounts from 50% to 100%.
It used to be a percentage, but now, if you have any surplus at the end of the month over £20, then all the surplus would be taken, however, they do allow for all your essentials.
Thanks for that. Think that I might have £100 surplus but that doesnt take into consideration my son's DLA or disability element of child tax credit. Which I have been assured they cannot touch. Is that right?
