I received a fine for £80 and it went to bailiffs who raised it to £205. The fine has now increased to £420. The bailiffs have told me that they increased the amount as they have visited my property and I was not there. Are they allowed to raise the fine to this amount ?

I dont know the exact rules and ammounts, but yes they can charge for their collection efforts ( it is not the fine itself that is increasing)

Was it a prearranged visit?
