We are ready to declare ourselves in the next couple of weeks but the only thing stopping us is the court fee. Trying to find ways to raise £1000 isnt easy, so we wondered if we could sell something. Not that we have anything of real value, but collectively we may. Would this be frowned upon? SOA asks if you have sold somehing of value recently.

Hi drowning-mum
I think the OR is looking at the sale of single large assets - maybe a car or valuable antique - that you sell prior to going BR that would be of value and go into your BR estate.
I don't think they would be interested in the sale of other items and especially if you are using it to pay your BR costs - I am sure you aren't the first to do a car-boot or part with unused items to fund their BR.
The OR may ask how you paid for your BR so you'd need to say you saved it up over the last x months.
