I have been declared BR and has IPA set. Before my BR I had made application for child benefit and child tax credit, which are in process. If agreed on, they may pay me back dated,
My Q is will child benefit and child tax credit be included and my IPA amended?
What about my regular child benefit and child tax credit, will they include them?

Hi abd

I'm a bit confused about what you mean. Child benefit and child tax credits are usually included for an IPA if you are claiming expenses for childcare and such like.
What are the new ones you have applied for as opposed to the regular ones?
What is the original IPA based on?

Hi Suzanne

I did not claim child benefit and tax credit before
as my kids were living abroad .In my SOA for BR as income child benefit and tax credit were not included(as i did not have them). Now that my IPA has been agreed on ,I will get child benefit and tax credit and Iam not sure whether they will consider that as an extra income and change my IPA
does that make sense.

Ok, I get it.

I think you need to redo an income and expenditure questionnaire before you pay anything over as you will incur additional expenditure to feed and clothe the children, which would probably absorb any tax credit you got and some.
You have to consider things such as school meals, school trips, childcare, pocket money, after school clubs etc. These are all expenses allowable against child benefit.

Thanks Suzanne, but do I have to ask my OR to consider a new exenditure questionnaire?
Cause frankly I intentionally left out other child care related expenditure from my SOA,cause I have already exhausted my income and I thought there will sound like luxury in my SOA.

Hi ABD,

You have a duty to inform the OR of any change in your circumstances, so I'm afraid it means submitting new income and expenditure details. If in doubt, discuss it with your OR.
