I want bankrupt on 10th April 2008.I have just received a letter today from the OR saying my bankruptcy file will shortly be passed to the regional trustee and liquidator unit (RTLU)who will deal with any assets and payments that maybe made to creditors..What does this mean?,could I be lucky enough to get an earlier discharge? or is this standard procedure at this time scale?

thanks

Nikki

Hi
This is standard procedure where there are insufficient assets for a Trustee to be appointed.
The OR will hang on to a file if they think it needs investigation but may still send the asset bits over to RTLU to be dealt with.
Does not mean you won't get an early discharge though. If in doubt ring them and ask.

My case was passed over to the RTLU and they didn't notify me - I only found out when I happened to look on the insolvency register. I didn't get early discharge either, so I would say don't get your hopes up. My view was ED would have been nice, but I never expeceted it so i couldn't be disappointed.

The only difference will be the address of the OR's office shown on the insolvency register. You can be discharged earlier than one year, if your case is simple and the OR has concluded their investigations.

Here is the link

If you know which Court you were made bankrupt in you can select that specifically, if not just use the option for all Courts.

Both me and hubby haven't been formally notified of the transfer of our br to the RTLU. I only found out when I had to contact the original OR about something and she told me.

I'd just like to echo what Suzanne posted. If you are in any doubt whatsoever, speak to your appointed OR to get clarification.
