I am trying to decide whether to see if I can come to an informal arrangement with credit card companies,or file for bankruptcy. I have debts amounting to approximately 10,000 pounds.

I am a UK citizen but have recently left to live and marry in Brazil.I have no assets in the UK now.I am not able to legally work for another 6-10 months and cannot meet repayments after two more months.
Any advice?

Hi GWJ and welcome to the forum.

All I could suggest is discussing the matter directly with your creditors and bein gopen and honest. The worst case could be that they make you BR in your absence.

Hi Julian,
Many thanks for your reply.I think I had more or less come to that decision and will first contact the Consumer Credit people in the UK.
