Hi!After all the sleepless nights with regards to our situation right now,I honestly think bankruptcy is the best solution for us instead of further asking for a reduced payment with our DMP.
If I plan to work abroad in October, will I still have time to file bankruptcy?and can I continue the application even if Im abroad once its benn started?am I allowed to go out of the country?
pls help.many thanks!

Hi

How long it takes really depends on how long you have to wait for a hearing date. Once you are bankrupt you will need to co-operate with the Official Receiver, but as long as you give them contact details there would be no issue with you being abroad.

How much are you currently paying into your DMP and how much can you really afford?

Hi Melanie.
Im currently paying £435 on my DMP,and to be perfectly honest I can only afford to pay about £150 at this time, this is bec of changes in circumstances such as birth of 3rd baby, thus i have to reduce my hours to look after them cos i cant afford childcare, also my tax credit have also stopped (£180),this was included on our household income before the DMP was in place.I was told we have been overpaid in the past.I havent missed any payment on my DMP and mortgage, this is with great struggle,I have to do extra shifts and work permanent nights just to get enhancements to keep ends meet.
I know I have mentioned earlier on that bankruptcy is a solution for us,but in reality I still cant decide properly which way to go.
If my request for reduced payments on my DMP have been considered
and carry on with that agreement,Can I still apply for bankruptcy later if we are still struggling?how is the process?please I really need answers.I am totally exhausted physically and emotionally.
everyday I read this forum,it gives me hope and helps me fight this crisis.Really appreciate all your replies.

apologies for this new question again.
The DMP is both in our names(my husband)If I file for bankruptcy, does it mean also that he file for one or can I just apply on my own?2 of the debts are his.
Just worried that if we both apply then we have to pay two charges as well.
hope to hear from all of you. Many thanks!

With that level of disposable income, and the change in your family circumstances, it would appear that bankruptcy might now be a sensible option - however you can do this alone and your husband could continue to service his debts directly.
