Hi all I have just had a representative from N-Power he said he had come about the amount outstanding which is one of my creditors, so I said I have been made bankrupt and cannot discuss the matter with him, to which he replied "that is no concern of mine!" and did not want my bankruptcy number for proof, and entered the hallway to take a meter reading, now I am confused as I was told by my or that once I tell them I am bankrupt they are not allowed to discuss the payment of the debt with me and that i should offer them my bankruptcy number and politely close the door, and forget about it! He has given me a letter which states todays visit will cost £23.00 and that the next step is to bring a policeman and a locksmith to enter my property to cut off my supply. Can they do that to a bankrupt? I spoke to my or earlier this week because i had received a county court judgement off one of my creditors and she said ignore it or if you are really bothered about it post it on to me and I will speak to them, and so I have got that to post on Monday. Should I ring N-Power myself or should I send it to her and let her do it? I am now very worried again about this and I thought my bankruptcy would ease all these worries
Also my OR said that all the letters about my bankruptcy have now been sent to all my creditors as of the 8th of this month so what happens to all the debts that I am still getting demands for and some of them have greatly increased with charges ect will I have to pay all the extra charges they have put on my debts?
I would really like to have a stress free weekend for once in a long time, I have had no demands through the post today and then knock knock N-Power is at the door
Please help put my mind at rest!
P.S all of the people who have helped me in the past will be aware of me starting a new job with the co-op pharmacy on the 12th May well they still have not sorted out my wages and I have been there 11 weeks and so it has been a very stressful time for me!
Sorry to go on any help will be much appreciated

i am pretty sure they wont be able to cut it off but they can put a prepayment meter in and they need access for that.
The only way is to write to them yourself with all the reference numbers from court and send it recorded delivery. Don't let them in unless it is to put another meter in. |

Hi antp I have actually spoke to them on a few occasions and have also spoke to their bankruptcy department (yes they have a whole department just for us!)but they have still sent this guy out today! Do you think I should perhaps ring my OR on Monday and give her their number and see if they will listen to her? I am in a privately rented flat and my landlord says if they fit a meter I would have to pay him or lose my deposit of £500 to have it removed if an when I ever move out, so I really dont want to have one if possible. I have also asked them to send me a new bill for the amount I owe them since being declared bankrupt so that i can pay it, but nothing!! I was hoping to relax this weekend, but it is back into worry mode again :-(( Maxine x |

i really suggest going to a help group like the citizens advice bureau. check out their website as well, these people are well grounded in this sort of thing and will have come across it many, many times, good luck. |

The OR dealing with your case needs to sort this out as an absolute priority. You entered into bankruptcy proceedings to get away from this sort of nonsense - and the power company cannot cut you off so long as you are up to date with all post-bankruptcy charges.
For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com |
