just the start of another day and already my head is full of it seem to breath and sleep (well not quite sleep)bankruptcy at the moment.

earlier in the week i contacted payplan for some advice.they have just called me back and advised the following:-

I receive DLA of £70 a month for rheumatoid arthritis. i use this money to pay for someone to help with cleaning and preparing food and pay them £20 per wk..she advised dla is a benefit that does not need to be diclosed on soa but it would be better to do so.

also i have a car in my name (paid for) worth about £4500 to £5000 which i thought the OR would sell and then possibly i would need to buy a cheaper one. but because i need the vehicle ie shopping, getting around etc i would probably be allowed to keep it...i dont use it to travel to work as it is easier to get the bus so would i be able to put down vehcile allowances tax petrol etc and bus fares £25 per wk on the soa or are you allowed one or the other. if i do use the car it costs me £80 in parking.

also regarding the gas and electric balances for the property i am in now i could also include these in the bankruptcy and in the new property obtain gas/elec from a dif supplier. i was thinking of just taking the balances with me and paying the direct debit of £100 to the new property as i dont want to be unable to get gas or electric unless it is thro a pay meter as the landlord would not be happy

any advice would be appreciated##

Hi

*** You should list the dla as other income on your SoA but it will not be included when an IPA is considered by the OR.

*** The car issue is an unknown. Your original thoughts are correct regarding selling and buying a cheaper one but who knows what your particular examiner will decide.
What car // year // model is it?
It may not be worth as much as you think as the OR is advised of auction sale price not showroom values.

*** I would list the car as essential for work as well otherwise this would increase the chances of the OR deciding the car should go for a cheaper one, or maybe you don't need it at all.
Your monthly travel costs should include the fuel and parking. All other vehicle related expenditure (insurance / tax / servicing / MoT & repair etc should come under vehicle costs.
(If you are a member of the AA / RAC etc you can also add this cost seperately.

*** You've mentioned this before, if you include the current outstanding bills in your BR then you will, as you say, need new suppliers who may insist on a meter. As this may compromise your ability to rent I would avoid that and continue with the £100 per month budget payment.
