I have a number of debts that have increased over the past 7 years, and as a result of a divorce I have been left with all the debt, plus the Lawyers fees.
I also have maintenance to add to one of my monthly debts.
The total amount of debt is 18,000.
I lived in the UK for 15 years, but since the divorce, I have moved away. I now realize that I am unable to meet the payments required.
I would like to know if I can declare bankruptcy in the UK without living there?
Hi we have seen this particular question on the forum quite often.
The answer is yes but you will need the services of a professional to whom you will have to legally pass a "Lasting Power of Attorney". These people can work with you from where you are, present your petition to the court and deal with the official receiver in your absence. I should also tell you the professional will charge a fee for this service which would most likely need to be paid before they begin to act on your behalf.

Thanks John.
Where can I find one of these Professionals? Do they have a website?
