i have just been reading some info on the co-op cashminder account and one of the comments was that it took 3-4 wks before everything came thro. can anyone tell me how long theirs took. i also believe barclays do an account for bankrupt friendly accounts has anyone used these?.
i have opened a new account with the local credit union, basic acc. which i will have to use today to pay dd's due on 1st. so i am going to advise them i am going bk to see if they will still allow me to use it if the or says its ok.
also i have my date at Dewsbury court nxt wk, has anyone used dewsbury and what was it like. and what is the or like for that area?
just really nervous about it all at the moment.

I opened a cashminder account the day I went bankrupt on the 15th August and it was opened within a week. It did take longer for the card etc. to come through but at least I had somewhere for my wages to go.

Same here, around a week but I got my card around that time too. I'm still waiting for my pin though. I was quite impressed actually, because its so handy being able to use post offices to pay cash in, take cash out and get a balance. I've also used the internet banking now and it's dead simple. I'm also pleased about the debit card side of it (even though its only electron), feels just like a normal current account.

I love my Cashminder account! To be honest I'n not bothered if I never upgrade as I've got a prepaid debit card for when my Electron isn't accepted, and that's not very often.
On the rare occasions I have anything to pay into my account I always use the Post Office. If I pay a cheque in on a Saturday it's usually cleared by Wednesday.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Im liking the cashminder too... the only thing I don't like is that I withdraw all my money (apart from car insurance etc.) each month as soon as I get paid and distribute it into envelopes so I can keep track of everything. I haven't a branch near me and the cash point only allows £250 a day so it can take me 5 days to get all my money out!

I too love my Cashminder account, only thing I'd liked sorted is the Internet Banking. The Account Balance and Available Balance are always identical (unlike the cashpoint - which has a 'real time' Available Balance).
The pros outweigh the cons tenfold! |

Hi i opened mine 4th Aug the day we went BR, rec cards on the 9th so all in all quite quick and very happy with them.

I took the forms in on Monday and left them at the branch. Account was opened on tuesday, details came through on thursday and Card came through this morning - cant believe how quick that was!!
Anyway, im only due to go br on 13 october but am not going to start using account until after anyway.
The weights are coming off my shoulders very slowly, but making such a big diference !! |

I got my account over the phone last Saturday, approved straight away, got my account details trough on Tuesday, bank card on Thursday just waiting for my pin now. You can deposit money at the post office as well, so assuming you can take it out there as well so that might help you a bit Maizie??

i just opened a cashminder account over the phone it took less than 10mins and the girl said i would havedetails/card within the week,which is a vast improvment on the natwest who i bank with at the momment on the phone they told me i would be able to keep my step acc but too bring in the br cert to the branch just to make sure so i took it in yesterday had a meeting with the manager who said to me that i was not allowed any kind of acc with anyone while br so not impressed with them

I had the same problem with natwest, one minute they said i could keep my savings account, then 6 weeks later they closed it, like you they said i was not allowed any sort of account with them whilst BR and that i should reapply when we have been discharged.
Oh well i have my Coop account thats enough for me. Stuff em, i say!!!!!!:-)

We applied for a joint cashminder account on Saturday, had the approval letter through within the week and the cards, paying in book etc a few days later. PINs arrived a couple of days after the cards - from start to finish less than 2 weeks.
Will be very happy to stay with the Co-op through BR and after - was very impressed with their efficiency & friendliness. |
