Hi Alkesh
It takes time for the banks to freeze accounts even then the bank if you dont have any debt with them like an OD they may allow you to keep it if its a basic account.
If its not a basic account but your wages/benefits get paid in there then you may have to make alternative arrangements for these.
The Coop cashimnder is the account of the moment as they are very BR friendly and you can open this the same day you go BR but over the phone or in the branch.
If you do have monies in your account make sure that you remove your living expenses for the month on the day of BR so that the bal is zero and inform the OR that you took the money out for household bills etc.
It is not the OR that freezes bank accounts it the banks, but you will at some time have to send down cut up cards etc so it is worth you getting a new bank account if you can, you could apply Monday then you will have the paperwork through just after your BR date.

Hi you can open one before going BR, but some do some dont.
Its up to the individual, the Coop like i have said are BR friendly and the accounts from what i have read do not get frozen, so really its up to you which way you do it.
Hope that helps.

Co-Op are fine as long as they are not owed large amounts of money in the Bankruptcy, when they go strangely quiet.
