Just checking, when doing I&E do they include Tax credits, child benefit and jobseekers allowance as part of your income? Both my husband and I are going BR, not sure how this will work when filling in the forms as not sure how to split up our expenditure...we have a joint account. I am off work as been made redundant and expecting baby number 2 in May. Do I include extra expenditure for new baby yet?? Thanks so much :)

Sorry but forgot to ask...I am receiving £140 p.m. through my income protection insurance for my redundancy. Do I include this as an income? Thanks again. x

Hi Daisy

If your main income is benefits then all get included on the form but some are discounted for expenditure purposes so wont be counted in, they include:

Child Benefit
Disability living allowance

If you get JOb seekers allowance or any other benefit then they will be included in how they work out your I&E but in reality you should not get an IPA if that is all you have coming in.

You have to write on your SoA all income regardless of if its JSA, CB etc etc, its then down to the OR to realise that some must not be counted in including your insurance money.

Yes you can put down extras on there for baby stuff and inform them, you have to buy clothes, a cot, pram etc etc and all these cost money and its no good leaving it to the last minute.

Hope this helps

Oh and one more thing just mirror your I&E on your SOA and put on yours what u get each month with his as a contribution and then do the opporsite on his.

Thats what we did,no need to split it down as u both pay in and r both going br.

Thanks for that Jo, helps a lot. That was going to be my next question, how to split up everything onto two forms...has no-one thought of inventing a joint one for couples yet!!?? Could you please just clarify for me how to do this again? Do I put everything on both forms then put a note on somewhere that we are doing it jointly? xx

Hi Daisy

The OR will know that you have delcared BR jointly, just make sure you mirror all expenditure etc.

Dont forget to include ALL joint debts on your SoA.

Right, we have a large joint debt, on my husbands form it will look like his share is affordable coz he earns a decent wage. I am on benefits and aswell as the joint debt, have other sole debts (in my name but used by both of us) so totally not affordable. Hope that makes sense? Cant put my debts on his form can I? So will they take both forms as a whole and work out the situation as one?

hi Daisy

Thats no different to mine, we had joint debts and i am now not working but was when the debts were taken so like you could look strange but dont worry the OR will work it out.

On your form you put ALL debts that have your name on and any joint debts would be shown as joint then on his all debts in his name go on and your name would be linked to them as they ask on the form if anyone else is linked to this.

OK thanks that makes sense now. Am just trying to fill in more of my forms at the moment...know I will have loads more questions but at the mo...where it asks 'how much do other members of the household contribute to the household expenses?', is that all of husbands pay? Also as I'm redundant, it asks for my tax office office address? have no idea what it is and as company insolvant, no-one to ask! Where can I find that out? Thank-you so much again, you are a star! xxx

Needafriend,

It seems like you have put in longer than 18 weeks bankruptcy?! With luck you might only have to wait about another 18 weeks, anyway.
