Hi, my DH and I have a joint current account with HSBC and also a large managed loan which we are including in our BR. As we were thinking of entering into an IVA previously, we transferred all income and DD's over to a new account with A&L. They wouldnt close the account with HSBC as they said late charges from the managed loan had been added into the current account which had caused an overdraft and we had to pay that before they would close the account down. So I have waited until we could just about afford and paid these off before smugly telling them to close the account. They made me wait for ages then came back and said NO they will not close the account because it is linked to the loan!! I told them that we have been paying a token payment towards the loan (not for much longer!!) through a DMP and that the SO from the HSBC account was cancelled months ago. They still refused saying that they could re-instate the SO at anytime...even though the account has nothing in it and is not being used?? Honestly HSBC have been terrible about loads of other issues and in my experience have made loads of mistakes and have been totally un-sympathetic and un-bending. Is this right we cant close our own account down? Dont want anymore charges added! x
I would just add the account into your SoA and let the OR deal with them. They will get the OR rattled as they made you pay then lied so just add a note in section 13 and also if there is space on the section that you list your accounts in.
Dont worry about these now, leave them be and soon you will be BR and then it will be out of your hands, dont let them beat you down, be strong and dont pay anymore to them, if they reinstate the SO and take money it will get included on the SoA and written off.
They wont get anymore :-)
